NEET SS 2023 Exam: Marking Scheme, Exam Pattern, and Important Details

The National Board of Examinations (NBE) is set to commence the NEET SS 2023 (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test - super specialty) exam tomorrow. This examination serves as the sole criterion for both eligibility and ranking for admission into various DM/MCh and DrNB super specialty programs. It's imperative for candidates to download their NEET SS 2023 admit card from natboard.edu.in and carry it with them to the exam centers.   The NEET SS 2023 exam will be conducted in two shifts: the morning session will run from 9 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by the afternoon session from 2 PM to 4:30 PM.  

Here's an overview of the NEET SS 2023 exam pattern

  Question Paper Details: Total Questions: 150 Time Allotted: 2.5 hours Question Source: All questions will be based on the curriculum of the Post Graduate Exit level of the primary feeder broad specialty subject.  Question Composition: The paper will encompass general, basic components, and all sub-specialty systems related to the respective primary feeder broad specialty subject.  

Marking Scheme:

Correct Answer: 4 marks will be awarded. Incorrect Answer: 1 mark will be deducted as a penalty for each wrong answer. Unattempted Questions: No marks will be added or deducted for unattempted questions.  

Exam Pattern:

Group-Based Exam: NEET SS 2023 will be a group-based examination. The question paper will contain questions exclusively from the broad specialty primary feeder.   Super Specialty Selection: Unlike the previous pattern, candidates can choose any super specialty as per the feeder subject. Previously, each candidate could opt for only two super specialties.   Question Distribution: The exam paper will comprise 60% of questions from super specialties and 40% from feeder broad specialties.   Groups: All DM, MCh, and DrNB courses offered for admission through NEET-SS 2023 are categorized into 13 different groups. Each group will have a common question paper covering all the super specialty courses within that group, resulting in a total of 13 different question papers.

September 29:
  • Morning Shift (9 AM to 11:30 AM): Medical Group
  • Afternoon Shift (2 PM to 4:30 PM): Radiodiagnosis Group, Microbiology Group, Pathology Group, Psychiatry Group, Surgical Group, Paediatric Group, Anaesthesiology Group, Pharmacology Group
 

September 30:

  • Morning Shift (9 AM to 11:30 AM): ENT Group, Respiratory Medicine Group, Obstetrics & Gynaecology Group
  • Afternoon Shift (2 PM to 4:30 PM): Orthopaedics Group
